“Music begins where the possibilities of language end.”
– Jean Sibelius
From the jubilant excitement of an uplifting hymn to the quiet contemplation of prayer or meditation, music is an integral part of any worship service. The Music Program of TJMC-UU strives to provide this atmosphere, both within the worship service and outside of it. Our program includes an Adult Choir, a Children’s Choir, and many talented members of our congregation.
The TJMC-UU Choirs
The TJMC-UU Adult Choir enhances the worship service experience through singing. We sing a wide variety of music, from classical to gospel. We rehearse on Thursdays from 7:15 to 8:45 from August through May in the sanctuary, and we sing in both the early service and the late service about twice a month.
Are you interested in singing with a fun group of people? No audition is necessary! Don’t worry if you don’t know how to read music; we will teach you what you need to know. Please email our TJMC Music Director, Scott Deveaux, or just show up for a rehearsal! We’d love to have you!
The TJMC-UU Children’s Choir provides an opportunity for children to take a leadership role in the church service through singing. They learn the basics of singing as well as how to work well in a group. The choir rehearses on Sunday mornings during the school year from 10:30 to 11:00 (between services). It performs 4 to 5 times a year.
If you would like your child to join the Children’s Choir, please email our TJMC Music Director, Scott Deveaux, or just show up for a rehearsal. Any child aged six and up is welcome to join. If your child is younger than six but eager to join, you can discuss with Scott Deveaux about him or her joining.
