Make a commitment on-line.

Dear Member and Friend of TJMC-UU,

A new chapter in the life of Thomas Jefferson Memorial Church is fast approaching.  We are literally weeks away from meeting the candidate selected by the Search Committee.  After a week of interaction we will be voting on whether to call him/her or possibly even them as our next Minister(s).  A new beginning, built upon a rich history. Exciting times to be engaged in this church.

We think that this is an excellent time to ask you to pause and reassess what this church community means to you, to recommit yourselves to active participation in the life and work of this church and to support its continued existence through your financial support.

Consider. It is not the act of signing a book that makes one a member of a church community. It is the embracing of that community’s ideals and principles, the resolve to live those principles in our daily lives, and the commitment to pass those principles to a future generation. The signing of “the book” is a ritual that makes this inner resolve visible to the rest of the community and periodically is it good to recall our decision of membership.

We therefore ask you to spend the next few days giving intentional thought to your church and your commitment to it. In doing so we sincerely hope you reconnect with that initial conviction that this is your “spiritual home” and your church.

You will find enclosed some materials about the work of the church, a commitment card, and a revised suggested giving guide. After thoughtful consideration, fill out the card, sign it, place it in the return envelope and bring it with you to church on February 28th to participate in our service of rededication.

Let us move into our future with renewed energy and revitalized commitment.  Let us keep the flame of this Unitarian Universalist community burning brightly in the Charlottesville area.  There is much to do and we are stronger side by side.  See you at church!
