“Taking Care of the Church We Love”

“Taking Care of the Church We Love” (January Bulletin Article)

What does this mean to you?

This year’s theme “Taking Care of the Church We Love” is a phrase that grew out of an attempt to define stewardship. What does it mean to be a steward? The Merriam-Webster dictionary includes in its definition of stewardship, “the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care.” So what does taking care of our church mean to you? We want to know! Have you ever sacrificed for something out of love? Tell us about it! How did it make you feel? How did it affect your life and your community? Please gather your thoughts, stories, artwork and other expressions of stewardship and submit them to us by email at stewardship@uucharlottesville.org or put them in the Stewardship mailbox at church. Each entry will be posted in a “stewardship” blog, appearing on the church website. At the same time, children in the Stars Studios will be exploring the conversation on what it means to take care of something that you love, and we look forward to sharing their thoughts as well. Please contribute to this effort as you are able. Let each and every one of us become a steward to our beloved UU community, working together in “Taking Care of the Church We Love.”
