Gratitude in a Complex Context November 20, 2011 Ω ®

For some, Thanksgiving Day is a day of celebration. For others, it is a day of mourning for the genocide Native Americans have endured since that first contact. What can we do – what should we do – with this contradiction? Scott DeVeaux, Bob Kiefer, and Erik Wikstrom will weave our worship. We will celebrate our bread communion, and the choir will sing.

Listen to Bob Kiefer’s homily before the sermon.

Listen to Rev. Erik’s sermon.

Read the sermon on Rev. Erik’s blog.

From the Leadership Development Committee:

At this service, we distributed a form listing positions open for election in May 2012 as well as several key volunteer areas. The form is also available by clicking Cultivating Connections , on the Leadership Development Bulletin Board, and at the Leadership Development Table in the Social Hall. The volunteer opportunities list is not comprehensive; be sure to also check the Bulletin Boards and TJMC website “want ads” section for more open opportunities. If you are interested in having more information about any of these elected positions or volunteer opportunities, return the form in the Leadership Development box in the mailroom, send it to leadership@uucharlottesville.org, or stop by the Leadership Development Table on Sunday. We will contact you to help connect you to the right opportunity.
