Church This Week
June-August 28: Summit House Closed
July 2, Friday: Food Pantry, 9:30 AM, Social Hall
July 5, Monday: Church Office Closed for the holiday.
July 6, Tuesday: UUppity Women, 7 PM, Parlor. There will be only one meeting in July. We will gather to look back at our 2009-10 program year. Come with your comments on what you liked and did not, what you think we should to do more often, what you think is being overdone. Bring your ideas for discussions, presentations, and activities for meetings beginning in September. A pool party is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, August 3. For information, email uuppities@uucharlottesville.org.
July 11, Sunday: Sermon - In a Time of Transition, Wendy Repass, Megan England Ward & Twenties and Thirties (TnT). Life is filled with threshold moments that define who we will become. The Twenties and Thirties (TnT) group will discuss the decisions that form the barrier between youth and adulthood and present two special features: “What We Wish We Had Known” and “What We Hope To Remember.” Join us for an exploration of growing up, staying young, and forming friendships across the age barrier.

Covenant Group Coordinating Committee is hard at work creating new Covenant Groups to begin this fall, and assigning new members to existing groups. Covenant Groups are our church’s small group program in which participants meet, listen, and share, in a fixed (for the church year) group of eight to twelve people, deepening our relationships with each other while discussing interesting topics. New participants enter groups in either September through October, or January. Contact: Sally Taylor at 295-8083 covenantgroups@uucharlottesville.org, Patsy Swindler, Jim Souder, or Christine Gresser. Or: uucharlottesville.org/get-involved/interests/covenant-groups.
ShopWithScrip! To register as a TJMC member, go to the website, register using our enrollment code 5BCFD27A2L439 and use the ‘Shop’ menu to order your GiftCards. Orders placed by midnight Monday will generally be available for pickup at the Scrip table the following Sunday, though because of low demand, we no longer place weekly orders. You can use ShopWithScrip’s PrestoPay debit service to pay online or pay with a check when you pick up your order. We will continue to stock our regular grocery store GiftCards plus a handful of popular ShopWithScrip Cards at the Scrip table each Sunday.
Church Upcoming Dates
August 21, Saturday: TJMC Back-To-School Yard Sale Extravaganza, 11th Annual. Our sorting/pricing crew has already started to work. All donations must be in saleable condition or they will be subject to discard. Bring your non-furniture donations now to Summit House (the yellow house adjacent to the church) on Sunday mornings or during the week when the Church Office is open, and place them in Room #1, to the left as you enter. We accept: furniture, kitchenware, linens, decorative items, kid’s games and toys, sporting equipment, yard and garden items, electronics, books, and CDs. We cannot accept (due to space considerations): computers or printers, non-cable-ready TVs, large exercise equipment, child car seats or clothing. In order to maximize our working space, please hold larger furniture items until August. If you have items you can not hold until then, we have alternative off-site storage space available. Questions? Need to arrange a pickup for large quantities or large items? Write yardsale@uucharlottesville.org or speak with Elizabeth Breeden or Jean Newland.
