Our Congregation Thinks So!
Our congregation voted to approve the Green Sanctuary Task Force accreditation report at the congregational service and meeting Jan. 29. Now all we have to do is submit it to the UUA, where a team of three evaluators will review it, and then we wait 4-5 weeks until we hear their decision. Members of the Steering Committee are: Sharon Baiocco, chair; Jean Botts; Katie Corish; Ruth Douglas; Deborah Judson-Ebbets; and Glenn Short. Nineteen different UUs led our 12 Action Projects over the course of two years. Thank you to all these wonderful volunteers.
Green Sanctuary seeks to change the culture of a church, a distinction only 182 other UU congregations have achieved, and none in central Virginia to date. To receive accreditation, a congregation must complete 12 projects over a period of a year or two in four action areas:
- Worship and Celebration
- Religious Education
- Environmental Justice
- Sustainable Living
Action Plan Final Summary 2011
In addition, we hope you will look at the Board-approved Sustainability Covenant, below, and consider how it should affect decisions in your area of church life.
