Green Sanctuary

green-sanctuary-logo-plus-chaliceWhat is a Green Sanctuary?

Our church is in the middle of a process to change the culture of our church by becoming a certified Green Sanctuary, a distinction only 82 other UU congregations have achieved, and none in central Virginia to date.  To learn more about the Green Sanctuary program, go to this UUA link:  http://www.uua.org/leaders/environment/greensanctuary/index.shtml

To receive accreditation, a congregation must complete 12 projects over a period of a year or two in four action areas:

  • Worship and Celebration
  • Religious Education
  • Environmental Justice
  • Sustainable Living
