Who can attend AFD classes?
We welcome anyone from our congregation or the larger community to join us. Let us know if you have any special transportation needs and we’ll see if we can help.
How do I sign up?
Registration is currently closed until the Fall.
When should I register?
Registration is ongoing, however, classes have minimum and maximum registration requirements. Some classes allow dropins, and some have deadlines. Contact the Director of Faith Development for more information.
What are the fees?
Fees are listed with the class synopsis. Course fees cover the direct costs of each activity; waivers and scholarships are often available. Check or cash payments are accepted before the class begins or on the first night of class. Checks should be made out to TJMC-AFD and sent to the Religious Education Office, TJMC-UU, 717 Rugby Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903. Please include the class name in the memo line.
Are they handicap accessible/ADA accessible?
Not all church meeting spaces are handicap accessible; please contact us if you have special mobility needs.
Can transportation be provided?
Transportation to and from classes can be arranged.
What do the fees go toward?
Course fees cover the direct costs of each class and support the creation of future AFD offerings. In some cases, the class facilitator is paid an honorarium.
Are there fee waivers?
Please speak with the Director of Faith Development to obtain a waiver for financial reasons.
Are there minimums and maximums on class sizes?
Yes, class sizes are listed in the class synopsis. If a class you have paid for is canceled, class fees will be refunded.
How will I be informed of class cancellations?
Should your class be canceled we will try to contact you by email or phone. You may also contact us at 434-293-8179 for more information.
Can I teach?
We look to offer classes that reflect our principles and values and would be of interest to our church community. If leading a class is something you would like to do, please submit this form or email the information to Leia Durland-Jones, DFD, at [email protected].
Where can I take classes online?
The Church of the Larger Fellowship offers a variety of online learning opportunities. You can explore classes in a variety of areas.
