What follows is the culmination of several years’ work by a number of teams charged with addressing the needs of our facilities — some of which have now become urgent. In the past, reports have met with inaction for a variety of reasons and so this seeks to build on the learning of these earlier efforts.

Our report does not contain any final recommendations. They are for the congregation to decide, but neither is it presented in a vacuum, divorced from the mission or purpose of the church. We firmly believe that our facilities are but one part of the whole that must fit together to support the mission of the church, its ministry,

its programming needs and the needs of our staff and governing body. As such it is but part of a comprehensive long range planning process.

Three of TJMC’s four buildings are “seniors” with an average age of 96. To better meet the needs of our congregation, should we expand, renovate, build, sell, or demolish, or do all of the above?  In preparation for a Congregational Meeting to address these questions during the Jan. 29 Sunday service, the Facilities Planning Task Force is launching a communications blitz Jan. 8 with the release of the report on this page.

Here is where you come in. Our report presents our findings and our considered opinions about benefits and costs of various options before us.  Now we need to obtain your ideas on which of the options has the most support among congregants, so that we may advise the Board and obtain their support for beginning a new, more detailed round of research with quotes, assessments, time frames, etc.

So stop by our table in the Social Hall to talk to us, study our models and watch a short video, or open the links below to take an online virtual tour and read the full report.  We need your wisdom and a shared vision to set priorities and guide our choices from among the exciting options we present.
