Ministerial Search Committee October Update
This is proving to be a very busy and productive month for the Search Committee. We are meeting weekly and filling well over our allotted hour of time. There have also been several sub-committee meetings to cover other tasks. We have completed our editing of the informational booklet, Our Flaming Chalice, and are ready for that document to go to the printer. We are also well on our way to completing the Congregational Record which will then complete our printed documentation of our church description. We welcomed input from our new Interim Minister, Rev. Dr. Janet Newman, who gave us the ‘Minister’s Perspective’ and we are grateful for her current and future contributions.
We also had a smashing good time with the over sixty participants of the ‘Framing Our Future’ session that met on Saturday, September 11. This group helped refresh the list and give priority to the qualities most valued in our next minister. The Committee met with a few curious and interested folks after the service on Balloon Sunday. We were able to answer their questions and they were able to share with us their concerns and perspectives. The Committee has also met several times with the church Board in order to achieve clarity on several important issues related to our next minister. We appreciate and value the effort of thought and the consideration being put forward by all who have shared with us.
