Ministerial Search Committee: Final thoughts
Last week was a tough one for the search committee. We worked so hard, we came so close, we wanted so much to bring you a terrific new minister! At the very end, we had to report to the Board that we were unable to recommend a candidate for settled ministry, a report no one wanted to have to write or to read.
For the last year, we’ve been keeping you updated in this space about the activities of the search committee. You’ve been a loyal audience and generous with your support. When we wrote that we decided that continuing the search was the only alternative we could recommend, you responded immediately and with love, and we want to say thank you. We needed those hugs, by email and in person.
We appreciate the way you honored our service to the church, your affirmation of our decision, and your concern for our feelings. It’s one small illustration of why this church is so important in our lives, why we worked hard last year, and why we remain confident that a new, dynamic ministry is ahead of us.
The nine of us will be adjusting our schedules in the months ahead, seeking new focus for our involvement with TJMC, and making room for the new committee. Thanks for all your support!
