Interim Ministerial Search

The TJMC Interim Search Committee is off and running fast. The Board acted quickly to file an application with the UUA (due Thursday, April 15) and to name the Committee members (approved Thursday, April 15). The first meeting of the Interim Search Committee was Wednesday, April 21; and we expect to have the name of our 2010-2011 Interim Minister by Sunday, May 9. Whew!

Here is a quick summary of the process:

·         In mid-April, ministers interested in being Interims met in Texas for training in the unique demands of being an interim. Unlike a settled minister, interims have to promise not to stay. Their job is to prepare us for new growth and new leadership. At the end of the meeting, they and UUA staff agree on up to six candidates for each congregation seeking an intern. Yes, our candidates may be looking at several openings.

·         On Wednesday, April 21, the Committee met to prepare its information for the candidates, including background on TJMC, contractual terms, etc, and we began reviewing the candidates! _ Interviews, reference checks, and information gathering for each candidate will occur before Friday, May 7, because on that date we will make an offer to the best candidate for TJMC.

·         On Sunday, May 9, (assuming Board approval), we will announce the name of the 2010—2011 TJMC Interim Minister who will start in August.

The Committee members are: Betty Warner, Johan Madson, Don Landis, John Semmelhack, and Lorie Craddock — running fast for TJMC, working with the Board to meet impossible deadlines, because TJMC is our beloved spiritual home.
