Church Notes & Requests for Help TJMC August Bulletin is now online at uucharlottesville.org. Controller Information: Bob Kiefer would like for all of you to know that he is assuming the responsibility for writing checks until the Controller position is filled. As he will be writing checks once a week on Wednesdays, please place requests for reimbursement or invoices into the Controller mailbox earlier than the Wednesday you would like to have him write your check. TJMC Annual Yard Sale Extravaganza: Only Two Weeks Left to Donate. Bring your household and decorative items, linens, kid’s games and toys, sporting equipment, yard and garden items, tools and electronics to Summit Room 1 or on the porch if Summit House is locked. We do not accept clothing, computers or large exercise equipment, and all items must be clean and in good working order. We need all small items in by Monday, August 15. Please save furniture and larger items for the week of August 14 if possible. If you have any questions or need help delivering items, please write to yardsale@uucharlottesville.org. Yard Sale Volunteer Sign-up sheets are posted in the office hallway. This year’s sale will be our largest ever, and the hardworking yard sale crew needs your help to pull it off. We particularly need strong people to help with the setup and sale of furniture. Prime days are August 14+ 19+ 20+21; see the sign-up sheets for details. Last call for book donations! Our upcoming public Book Sale is scheduled for Saturday, August 6, from 9 AM -2 PM. Bring your donations of books, CDs, DVDs and books on tape to the Social Hall by Friday afternoon, August 5, for inclusion in the sale. Name Tags: Summer is a peak time for visiting churches, and this summer we anticipate a lot of new faces in our pews with the arrival of our settled minister, Rev. Erik Wikstrom. Help welcome newcomers and strengthen bonds among members of our community by always wearing a name tag. Please wear your name tags! If you do not have one, stop by the newcomer’s table in the foyer any Sunday and request one. Every stranger is a friend you have not met yet. Carolyn Silver Memory Book: Last call to include your favorite memory of Carolyn Silver in the book Pat Millman is putting together. (Blank pages are available in the Mail Room.) Pat will be making copies of all offerings in the coming weeks so that each contributor will receive a complete copy of all contributions. Contact Pat if you have questions, Scrip: When you buy groceries, pharmacy items or gasoline at Kroger, TJMC gets 5% of every dollar you spend. Just use a TJMC-linked Kroger GiftCard when you shop. You earn money to support TJMC and It Costs You Nothing! Last year our Kroger shoppers generated $8,000, and this year, with your help, we hope to raise over $20,000! How do I participate? Buy a $50 starter card at the $CRIP table on Sunday. Refill the card at the customer service counter as needed. And Yes! You can use your rewards credit card to refill your GiftCard. Why should I participate? Purchasing Scrip is as much a part of Stewardship as making your annual financial pledge to support The Church We Love. The revenue raised through your support will help pay our staff and fund our internal and outreach programs. There is no easier way to support TJMC and it is at no cost to you. We need this money and we need your support. Please, support Scrip today!
