Meet our Ministry Associate

Welcome! Our church is a vibrant place in which community is grown, hearts are healed, and skills are honed. The ministry of our church seeks to support people in coming more alive and sharing the ministry. I am honored to share in this in many ways. My role currently includes:
- Meeting with people about pastoral concerns (job loss, relationship troubles, health concerns, addiction issues, spiritual questions, and other things that make us question in our souls).
- Teaching Adult Faith Development classes
- Serving as liaison to Pastoral Visitors
- Representing our church at community events
- Supporting young adult ministries
- Preaching
- Officiating at ceremonies (such as funerals), and
- Many other things that make sense in our shared ministry.
My service at TJMC is enriched by a background with many spiritual mentors. I had a positive experience being raised Presbyterian. In college, I spent a semester living in Sri Lanka with a Hindu family and Buddhist nuns. As a young adult, I served in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, which grew skills for a commitment to spiritual reflection and social action. I worked with amazing clergy women of various faiths at the Center for the Prevention of Sexual and Domestic Violence. Later, mentors helped me learn more about facilitating and teaching with the Fellowship for Intentional Community.
I attended a Unitarian Universalist seminary, Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, to earn my Masters of Divinity. To train as a chaplain, I served a year in a chaplaincy residency at a hospital in San Francisco and a summer internship at UVA in Charlottesville. I also served one summer as chaplain for the staff at Ferry Beach Unitarian Universalist Camp and Conference Center in Maine, and a year and a half as a part time chaplain for Hospice of the Piedmont.
My love of yoga began at age 21, and has deepened ever since, through life’s twists and turns. My yoga discipline shows me that each of us benefits from a regular commitment to well-being of body and mind, and that can be adapted to various situations. I am ready to help any of our congregants as you explore what spiritual path is right for you.
